Lisa-Jo Baker has a blog that I love to read. She has this thing on Fridays – Five Minute Friday. You guessed it; write for five minutes straight. No editing. No re-do. She gives the topic and you just write. Then you link it up to her site, comment on the other link-er before you and boom-hundreds of bloggers are writing about the same subject on the same day.
Today’s Topic: Wide
The horizon goes on forever. The expanse further than I can see.
The ground is relatively flat here in Western Canada.
I’ve come to pay tribute to my grandfather.
There is a history, a heritage here that I never realized as a child. There is the loudest silence that has ever entered my ears.
I’m overwhelmed by the sky; it truly is huge and makes me feel small.
I get to the Lodge where we’ll stay and wander alone out to the fields. There really is nothing out here except the tall grass, the blue sky and the old rusted Ford truck.
The Lord meets me there.
His presence overwhelms me, and I know He is walking along with me.
I feel guilt, yet peace. I feel pain, but relief. I cry and find release.
And, I want to lay in the tall grass forever. I find rest here. He literally lead me to the still waters to restore my soul.
As wide as the expanse of the sky is, as long as the legacy of my family, His overwhelming love runs deep and runs wide.
I am renewed, refreshed and restored; if only for a moment.
But, I know, he’ll lead me back and use His creation to remind me again how deep and how wide is His love for me.
